FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)
1. WHAT MAKES WILDFLOWER SPECIAL?
Wildflower Open Classroom is a unique program that blends open classrooms, innovative thematic curriculum, small class sizes, multi-grade classes, a supportive community atmosphere, constant opportunities for parent and community member support, enrichment in the classrooms, and much more.
2. WHERE IS THE SCHOOL LOCATED?
Wildflower is located at 2414 Cohasset Rd. Ste. 3 in Chico
3. ARE TOURS OF THE SCHOOL AVAILABLE?
Yes, tours allow parents to talk briefly with the Director, ask questions and address concerns, and see the classrooms and teachers in action. Tours usually occur on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9 am and allow for two families to tour at once. Schedule a tour by calling the main office phone at 530-892-1676.
4. HOW MANY STUDENTS DOES WILDFLOWER HAVE, AND WHAT NUMBER IS PROJECTED FOR FUTURE YEARS?
Wildflower has 165 students for the 2017-18 school year. The charter petition sets a projection of 220. Size is, of course, contingent on the number of applications received.
5. HOW ARE THE GRADES GROUPED?
Multi-age classrooms are an important part of the Open Classroom philosophy. Our classrooms are arranged as such: K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8.
6. WHAT IS THE STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIO?
Wildflower Open Classroom is committed to a small learning environment, with a goal of 22:1 in each classroom, although this may vary slightly depending on the number of applications received.
7. HOW AND WHEN WILL APPLICANTS BE NOTIFIED OF ACCEPTANCE OR WAITLIST STATUS?
Applicants will receive emails or letters notifying them of acceptance or waitlist status shortly after applying. If you have not received your email or letter more than two weeks after applying, please contact the school at 530-892-1676.
8. IF A CHILD DECLINES THEIR POSITION, CAN THEY STAY ON THE WAITLIST WITHOUT RE-APPLYING?
A waitlist may be maintained from year to year. Once on the waitlist, a student would remain in that position until he/she is offered a spot in the school or expresses no further interest. If families from the waitlist are offered a position, they must accept that position within three business days or risk being removed. If they decline the position, they can be placed at the bottom of the waitlist if they desire.
